It is getting to the time of year where most of us here in the upper Midwest need to start thinking about winter storage for our motorcycle. Here are a few things we recommend to get your motorcycle ready for storage over the winter:

Wash And Wax
Give your ride a good wash and wax. This is great because it does a couple of things for you. Number one is it gets the bike nice and clean and ready for storage, but it also allows you to get a good look at everything up close and make sure there are no showstoppers that need to be taken care of before spring comes.

Change The Oil
I recommend changing the engine oil and filter before storing the motorcycle away for the winter. Get that old oil out and get new fresh stuff in. Then you are ready to go as soon as the weather warms up.

Check Tire Condition
Give them a good look over and make sure there are no issues such as cupping, cracking, or exposed thread.

Remove Battery
Remove your battery and set up your charging station for the winter. We recommend a nice warm place and charge once per month. If you have your motorcycle in a warm area you can leave the battery in the bike and hook it up to a battery maintainer.

Fill The Fuel Tank Full
Adding a fuel stabilizer like Yamaha’s Fuel Med is a great way to help stabilize and keep this fuel fresh over the winter months.

Say Goodbye
Give your motorcycle a kiss and cover it up. Don’t ever feel bad about giving it a hug occasionally over the winter!

If you need help with any of the above, please do not hesitate to give us a call at 608-781-3360. We offer winter prep and winter storage packages to help with all the needs you might have. Also, if you are thinking you might need some service work, now is a great time. We can get you a discount on the parts and labor if the work is completed over the winter months.
